Sophie’s Story
Sophie was born and raised in Bellevue, Washington, just outside of Seattle. She was in a Spanish immersion program through her school, with 6 years of fully immersive Spanish education! In high school, she had the opportunity to spend a year living and studying in Barcelona, Spain, where she improved her Spanish significantly and was able to learn a third language, Catalan. Sophie graduated cum laude from Western Washington University, with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. She minored in Honors Interdisciplinary Studies. While at WWU, Sophie was a board member for the Political Science Association, a member of the Honors Outreach Program, and an academic advisor for freshman orientation.
After Sophie graduated in June 2021, she moved to Denver. She started working at FWI Legal in September, and is really enjoying her job as a workers’ compensation paralegal! Sophie plans to attend law school in a few years, so she is getting excellent law experience at FWI Legal in the meantime.
Sophie’s favorite thing to do in her free time is travel. She has dual citizenship (U.S. and New Zealand), as well as family and friends all around the world! She has traveled to England, Ireland, Spain, France, Andorra, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Costa Rica, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada, so far. She also enjoys reading, hiking, road tripping, baking bread, spending time with family and friends, and hanging out with her cat, Zara.
Q & A to Sophie:
1. What made you decide to work for FWI Legal?
The biggest draw about this firm to me is the way they treat their employees. It feels like everyone is regarded as an equal and their opinion is just as valuable as that of the attorneys. I am more than just an assistant to Jerrod Warr; we are a team that works together on our cases.
2. What do you value most about being a workers’ compensation paralegal?
I most value being able to assist our clients each step of the way, from treatment to settlement. We get to help them recover from their injuries, receive compensation to pay their expenses, and get back to their day-to-day lives. The satisfaction of reaching a settlement and knowing that our client will be able to pay all of their bills and get back to work is very rewarding.
