FYI from FWI Legal

When Injured Workers Don’t Hire Attorneys, Here Are 3 Big Mistakes They Make -   Injured workers who are not represented by attorneys are known as “pro se” claimants. These are the folks who have chosen to not hire an attorney and instead are trying to manage a case on their own.   There are situations where this makes sense. For example, I don’t generally see a need for […]
One Perspective on Dealing with the COVID-19 Virus - We’re all living through a period in history that most of us have never experienced before. With that comes a variety of opinions, stories, and changes to day-to-day life; here are a few of my personal highlights.   Work: Around the first of March, we started cleaning and sanitizing around the office more than usual. […]
What Should Go in My Personal Injury Journal for FWI Legal? - If you intend to make a personal injury claim, it’s only natural to have questions about your case and the proceedings. What kinds of damages can I pursue? What types of evidence will I have to compile? What can I do to strengthen my claim? We will go over the full process in our free […]
Creating Culture at FWI - Culture is critical to a company’s long-term viability. That’s of course no secret; search “business culture” on Amazon and you’ll get over 30,000 hits. It’s often easier said than done though, as I’m sure we’ve all been at jobs where there’s a toxic vibe in the air and employees don’t feel they’re appropriately valued. I’ll […]

Lance’s Story

Lance has always been a go getter with a kind heart. He is a motivated associate attorney with a desire to help others by using his law license. Born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Lance has always considered Colorado as a second home. Lance was convinced that Colorado is where he belongs after making frequent trips throughout his life to snowboard, attend concerts, and visit friends and family. After graduating from the University of New Mexico with a degree in international management and a minor in Spanish, he decided law school was the next step. Lance is bi-lingual in English and Spanish.

Lance attended the University of San Francisco to obtain his J.D. After three years in California, he decided that Colorado was home and moved to Denver. Lance passed the bar exam in Colorado and decided to obtain a license to practice law in New Mexico as well. He has always been very protective of those in need and his loved ones and this was a way to ensure he could always be there when they needed him.

No one likes to see “the man” taking advantage of those in unfortunate situations. Practicing personal injury allows Lance to fight back and ensure his clients are fairly compensated by those who caused them harm and fight insurance companies. He understands what its like to be on the sideline, due to injury, watching his friends and family enjoy the outdoors and physical activities. This is what drives him to do whatever it takes to ensure his clients are compensated for medical bills, pain and suffering, and other damages available to them pursuant to law. While money may not always be exchangeable for great memories with friends and family, it can pay for the doctors who can get you back on your bike or on your skis. Lance is here to be your compass and guide you back to health and happiness.

Q & A to Lance:

1. What made you decide to become an attorney?

My parents have always been my heroes. Having a father who is an attorney definitely motivated me to work hard in school and prioritize academics so that graduate school of some type was an option after college. On the other hand, my mother has always been extremely kind and caring. I believe the combination of their mentalities and expectations of me have formed me into the smart, hardworking and caring attorney I am today.

2. What made you decide to work for FWI Legal?

I fell in love with the mindset of FWI Legal from the second I stumbled upon their website. Finding a law firm who cares about their clients is very rare in today’s society. Many of the big firms you see advertising around town do not go above and beyond to truly make their clients feel comfortable. Simple things like returning calls or answering questions about the status of the case can really make a client feel at ease and trust FWI Legal as a firm, and this is the kind of firm I want to make my career in.

3. What do you value most about being a personal injury and workers’ compensation attorney?

Having the ability and legal authority to stand up for my clients in their time of need. I have seen loved ones and friends get taken advantage of by big insurance companies my entire life. I will fight on every case to ensure you are compensated fairly and guarantee big insurance companies are not bullying our clients at FWI Legal into taking unfair settlement agreements. I just like to help people in their times of need and being a personal injury and workers’ compensation attorney allows me to come into work and do that every day.
